Arrived at the Dam (lake) today and found the divers side windscreen glass shattered. A car travelling in opposite direction must have thrown up a rock
Removed all the glass and managed to ski without screen and mirror. I actually removed the frame and mirror as with the glass gone the whole structure was quite weak.
Zach are you able to source new glass for these older boats from Taylor Made?
I doubt I will be able to obtain one locally in Aus.
Adam how big is your carry on bag ??

Just found out they can only do curved glass from a mold. Cost to build mold would make it cost prohibitive.
Found a Taylor Made agent and they are going to see if Taylor Made still have the mold and are able to manufacture replacement glass. He did mention the cost of freighting replacement glass is very expensive.

Thanks Gary I did find that complete screen at NP. N3 has some windscreens but not for a Sport. They are around $600 just for the curved class driver or passenger side on 206/216.

Mark, It may be time to think about bending a piece of polycarbonate in the frame?

Pete that is my fall back plan. I have Zach checking to see if he has one or can get new glass.

What Pete said, or consider a high-impact acrylic such as Acrysteel or similar. The problem with uncoated polycarbonate is the yellowing with age, and although it is somewhat unbreakable (nothing is really unbreakable) when new, it becomes less unbreakable when it ages. Not to mention that it is susceptible to abrasion fairly easily compared to a high strength acrylic type product. Take a look at sign supply distributors or sheet plastic companies to find something that will work, or just invest in a good get of biker goggles.

Man, this is where all those beat to hell boats that seem to come up in FL, would be good. Just not a big enough market to go into the used parts business. Will be interesting to see what the Taylor Made folks say. And there really isn't anything you could use as an un original replacement either.

In Chicago we just use plywood to cover broken windows :)
You may just want to get both sides, with Adam coming chances are high something will get broken

Yes, Pete is correct in that most every other substrate besides poly will require heat forming.

Thanks Zach would like to have a glass screen again. Will have to look at putting some protection (high density foam) between the screen and cover while towing if I can get glass replaced.

Arklie I can get in replaced with a acrylic like you suggested. The windscreen manufacturers had the same opinion on polycarbonate with the sun damage and scratching as issues of why they do not use it for screens.

There also is a company in Florida that does Marine Glass. They use to be a site sponsor. I am drawing a blank right now, but I know that they are not inexpensive to work with. That sucks.

Mark, I have something that measures close to your dimensions. I went to get some twin yesterday before we closed so I can get a 100% accurate measurement since its going overseas.

Ok good that's how I expect everyone measures. These I have are round top so the dimensions are slightly off you just measure to the point before the rolled top starts.

Mark, here is what I came up with using a string measurement vs trying to contour a tape to the curve.
Top Rail to point=53-3/4" Bottom rail to point=65-3/4" Height at walk thru window 23-1/2"
These sound close enough to be a match for you. Usually if I am within a half inch of all measurements I can say it's more than likely the right one.
you had these for measurements. This windshield is a round top but I measured these without including the top rail. It adds about 1/2" but the frames are otherwise identical to the top of the square portion.
Top=53-3/8" (you had 23 but I assumed that was just a typo) Bottom=65-3/8" Height=23-5/8"

Pete, taking into account variances for how each individual measures something curved differently ha.

I wish I had never loaned out my favorite tape measure and never got it back. It looked like a standard Stanley but with a modified Stanley name. I don't want to offend anyone but the Stanley ended with "ski". The tape was blank except at the foot increments. At each foot there was a picture of a foot or multiple feet depending on how far you pulled it out!

Zach they sound very close especially considering it is using a different profile for the frame.
Email me the cost and freight and will will get it on the way.

My sheet of Polycarbonate arrived 2400mm 8'X 1200mm 4' X 4.5mm sheet of Makrolon UV coated on both sides for UV protection. Has a 10 year warranty for sun damage. Enough to make 3 driver side windscreens.
Zach got a price on shipping the glass screen to Australia US$2000
Looking at different shipping options obviously...
The 4.5mm sheet bent around quite easily thought I would have a lot more difficulty.

I had never quoted freight overseas before. Only thing ive shipped somewhat close to that was an entire interior for a 206 to France. That bill was north of 500 bucks for a large box on DHL but DHL doesn't do international freight shipments.
Hope that works out for you!
