I've searched and I know the oil subject has been beat to death around here... But, why not make another thread to add to the searchable content? RIght? Right?

Anywho,

Used GT-40 (1300 hours) is headed my way that has been run with Valvoline VR-1 40 Weight since forever. I'm not a big fan of changing things but I have been to 5-6 different auto parts stores around my house and and office in the last week or so. Not a single one of them has it. Most have VR1 in 10-30 and 20-50 but none carry the 40.

So, should I order some and stick with the same?

Stick 40WT and use another brand?
Stick with Vr1 and run a different weight?

Thanks!
Trey

Edit:

Nevermind I found 40wt at a napa a was out from my office but it was close to where I am headed for a meeting in the morning.

I'll pick it up and order more later unless somebody talks me out of it.

Thanks!
Trey

20-50!
Trey,
Do you understand how a multi weight works? Google it and do some reading. The benefits are proven over what I consider to be outdated single weight.

Trey,
I forgot to mention that I run it in all my marine engines. The 1977, 1964, 1954 and it's even in my 1927.
