Looking forward to putting my 99 Sport in the water this weekend. Hope it goes well. I am planning to have to do some upkeep and have been searching the forums for info. Any help:

1) Is there a FAQ on impeller replacement. I have read numerous threads with impeller AND new or impeller AND replace but I never found a thread dedicated to it. I know I have seen great threads in the past with pics on this subject. I think I have it down but would like to head to the lake armed with info.

2) My steering was getting tight late last year. While I hope it was cold weather related I am planning on having to replace my steering cable. Is there any probability that it is the helm base assembly or is it usually the cable. On my 99 sport I think I need the 20ft cable (think I read the original was 19.6"). Is there any recommended cable brand etc?

3) This next question was in a previous topic of mine but I don't see the final answer. One of my speedos hangs. Works well at speed but hangs slow. The needle looks bent. Can I get in there and straighten the needle? Tim, I think you an I may have discussed this in person at reids. How does it come apart. Thanks!

David mine went bad over last winter in the 95.It seemed fine at rest but when you drove it took 2 hands to turn. I had to change the helm and the cable. I cut the cable ends and pulled out the core.No rust but the lube had dried up and was for a better word gummy. If you could figure out a way to lube it I bet it would be fine. The helm unit was much the same but I was able to get that going easily. If I ever have the problem again I would try hanging the cable tape a funnel on one end and try to lube it. You might not want to wait that long to fix yours though. Try lubing the helm and see if that helps, that will require removing it I think or at least the wheel and bezel cover

The speedo bezel is just a press fit... Try spinning it off. Once there, the lens can pull off. Bring the boat to WL and we can walk through it!

Got the boat in and the steering is great. Must have been the cold weather making it stiff.

Looks like I have to remove the pulley to replace impeller. Yes? Current impeller is holding temp fine but have new one for normal maintenance.

Thanks Tim for the speedo tip. Took off the front, bent the needle straight (I thought that would fix it) and it is working great.

Also, took the pump off this past weekend, switched impeller and it is running just under 160 like before.

This weekend, a new solenoid in seadoo and a search for a pin hole in my hydro hoist.

Next up, Jody is getting me a new FCC pass through and fuel filter.
