Ok rebuilt raw water pump and installed new high filler thermostat on a 87 ski Nautique with 454 engine. Temp is great running at cruising and any moving speed until u run in a no wake area or set idle then engine get hotter. Thermostats is 165. But temp gets up to 185 climbing if don't watch it.
Don't seem to have any leaks.   What you guys think ??

With a high temp at slow speed, typically you are sucking air but, temps will climb after a hard run and then idle. Why the 165 T stat?

Only overheating at idle? Air leak between RWP and intake grate.
