My 1985 Nautique has always gotten some water in the bilge area for years and assumed it was just the stuffing rope going bad, I replaced the rope and everything is good but the water is still coming in the Bilge. Further inspection I noticed the water pick-up in the hull has a slow small stream of water coming from it when its in the water. Has anyone ever removed this piece from the hull and is this complicated to reinstall?

It's not at all complicated. Some do have some auxiliary screws but it's basically a pipe lock nut holding the pickup to the hull. If your boat does have some wood reinforcing the glass around the hull, you will need to address that since chances are high that it will be rotten and will need replacing. The pickup is bedded to the hull and I suggest using 5200 or at least 4200. NO SILICONE!!

Tackling this project tomorrow, so unscrewing that bolt inside the bilge the entire assembly I assume will just fall out the bottom of the boat. There is no fiberglass issue to be cautious of its not fiberglassed into the hull?

It probably will not fall out. They are bedded so depending on the condition and type of compound, some persuasion may be needed. It is not glassed to the hull. Do check for wood reinforcement around the hole.

The nut I meant not bolt. Looking at it today it looked like maybe the fiberglass wa molded around it. These projects are new to me. I'm just surprised there isn't more reinforcement on the inside of the hulll where it's compressed by that nut.
