Hello, I'm needing help troubleshooting my boat overheating. I overheated on the lake yesterday and had to be towed in. I got it home and hooked the hose up to it and ran it for a good 20 mins and didn't over heat. Went to the lake this morn and it overheated in less than 5 mins. Where should I start? |

I'm wondering what changed between the lake and house? Elaborating.... If you plugged a garden hose into your intake hose, your boat will run all day in the driveway, even if your RWP is bad or if you have minor air leaks. The hose pressure is enough to push water through the engine. If you drew out of a bucket, then it is a mystery why its fine in the driveway but not on the lake. If this isn't what you did, then retest in the driveway but by sucking water out of a bucket. Ok everyone, I found the culprit. My impeller for the RWP was found with 2 fins. Can anyone recommend the proper replacement? The one I pulled out says Johnson 801 but I have a feeling this isn't factory. |

What have you tried? Have you gone to "post reply" and not the "quick reply"? Did you see the icon of the tree with the up arrow? Try it and get back to us. Glad you found the problem. BTW, 99% of the time, a blown impeller is from running without water. | post photos of the wear plate and the inside of the back housing half. if excessive wear then the pump will work but not very good. wear plate can be honed down on oposite side with 400g sand paper on granite counter top to make it flat and smooth then use that side against the impeller. |

| While your finding a new impeller, get a thermostat housing gasket. Take apart everything from the trans cooler to the thermostat and get the bits and pieces out of your thermostat housing. Lots of pieces also fall backwards and will end up on the intake side of the pump. |
