I have a Delco Remi Starter that I had rebuilt last week. It was a big problem just getting the two bolts off, especially the back long one. Now that its rebuilt, I have to install it back in place and it seems impossible. I can't figure out how to hold the starter in its position long enough to get the outside bolt started. If I could do that, I could possibly then attempt the long backside bolt. I can sent a picture if necessary but it looks just like the traditional car starter from 40 years ago---two bolts and a solenoid on the top. Can anyone help? ------------- I have to keep her running 'cause I can't afford a new one |

Scott, You did get it off correct? I'm just asking to make sure somethings not in the way. Sometimes due to tight spaces, removing other items is needed. The only suggestion I have is to prop it up on something like a block of wood and cardboard for adjusting the height. Got it figured out. One man holds the starter suspended in the air with a strap fed behind the manifold. The other man gets the outside short bolt started by hand with loctite on the threads. Once started, get a flat thin air wrench with an extension then snug the bolt up. Repeat the process for the long inside bolt. The Air wrench saved a boat load of time vs tightening each bolt one click at a time with a normal ratchet in tight quarters and bruising your forearms on the starter body and forward engine mount!  ------------- I have to keep her running 'cause I can't afford a new one |

| The trick on that back bolt is having enough extensions for your ratchet. Sometimes you can get lucky and get the ratchet in between the starter and front mount... Other times it's easier to just get the ratchet all the way in front of it. |
