Hi All, I am slowly rebuilding pieces of my 01 Air that we have had now for 3 seasons and I have set my sights on the ballast system. After pulling out the carpet from the aft trunk, I am stuck as to how to remove the tanks from the boat. Does one have to remove or shift the fuel tank to get the stock rear ballast tanks out? Is there anything I should look out for in particular when removing/installing the system? Also, I know I need new senders as the previous owner ran the boat in salt water and never rinsed the ballast system out. Does anyone have recommendations on where to get them or is Nautiqueparts the best source? Thanks!!!! Camprnik - 01 Air Nautique |

Many recommend cutting them out and discarding. Here are a few ballast threads for replacing with bags. I saw-zalled mine out and replaced with bags. Made my life much easier. A. When they aren't full I have tons more storage back there. B. More Weight. C. I have quick disconnects on the bags so when the boat is going to be in the barn for a bit I can take the bags out and let them dry completely. |

If you are going to replace your hard tanks with bags you will not need the senders as there is no way they will work with the bags. No senders also means no ballast gauges. |

I have not removed from a Sport. I removed the rest ballast tanks from a 2006 Ski Nautique a few weeks ago and there was no need to remove gas tank. There were 3 or 4 bolts on each tanks. I did cut off the hoses as I could not get my hands in the small opening to get enough leverage to pull the hoses off. BKH ------------- Livin' the Dream |
