Hi all
The steering in my 96-176 is really stiff, and there's a lot of play(slop). Based on other posts I've read it's time for replacement. I have the rack and pinion helm with Tilt and my cable is SSC12419, and has 8" of throw.

Should I stay with R&P, or go with a Rotary helm? I'd like to go with the newer Extreme cable, but I'd imagine I want to draw away from the "No Feedback Helms", primarily because they're designed for outboard motors.

Can anyone (boat dr ?) give me the part numbers I need for replacement?
Given that none of these parts are serviceable, I'd like to get a system that easier and cheapest to replace in the future.

Thanks
Don

Boat Dr has not been around since November. Call Zach at N3 on Monday he should be back,he can tell you the options. Going to a Rotary helm IMHO would be taking a step back sort of like pulling your BMW's steering out and putting Grandma's AMC steering back in it You will need a cable and the lower half of the helm, everything from the dash face to the wheel you reuse.

Thanks Gary. I was reading some posts from 07, and there was mention of Rotary being a better design. But other opinions suggest that R&P is a better system. I think that because my boat came with R&P, I should stick with that.
