I purchased the replacement pitot from SKIDIM. The instructions say to elongate the new holes slightly inward to fit the old holes on the boat.

Is it possible to use one of the current holes on the new part and only elongate the other side? I don't have the boat or part in front of me to see if enough space is there to do that. I'd rather have one round mounting hole if possible.

I'm a symmetrical type. The screw heads will cover both elongated holes. If it worries you, use truss head screws!

I elongated both sides. I'm not sure there is enough material to do as you are suggesting without creating essentially a slot on the left-over side.

Wish I had better photos for you on my blog entry about these: https://kroundysboat.wordpress.com/2015/05/16/pitot-tube-upgrade/" rel="nofollow - Pitot tube upgrade

Got it replaced but now the gauge is not reading correctly. My GPS says 30mph but the speedo was reading about 15. Sometimes it doesn't read at all.

Steve,
The speedo is really a pressure gauge. If there's a leak in the pitot tubing or the pulsation damper it won't read correctly. A leak will show up as water as it's forced through the leak. Also check for blockage of the tubing and damper.
