Last weekend I had a prop strike at idle that stalled the motor it hit so solid. upon restart everything seamed okay unit we took off across the lake. There is a serious vibration and although the prop feels fine, I feel its the culprit. I'm in need of either a good stock 14x16-3RH, a 1442, 470 or possibly 422. I'm located in Chelsea, MI. even if I could borrow someones spare for a short period to be sure mine is bad that would be awesome.
Thanks for your time.

Not a 542, his list is accurate. I'd go 422 if at all possible.

Thanks fellas. If I have to buy new, I was leaning to the 422. I will however have my factory prop rebuilt, any recommendations to one place vs the other? Average price?

I have had very good performance with an Acme 470, 47 MPH, about 5000 WOT, great hole shot.

Before I waxed my current factory prop, my boat ran 47mph at 4700 WFO. Given your extra 300 rpm at WFO, I would imagine the hole shot would be stronger! Anyone have any MPH/RPM data for the 422 or 1442? I have searched but the amount of data out there is soo huge, it's hard to keep facts straight.

Sorry to jump on here, but I too will be wanting a new prop in the near future, I was aiming toward the 542 from previous threads (ill mainly be wakeboarding)
Why do you guys suggest the 422?

422 is 12.5x15.5 and appropriate for a '89 2001 since it had a 1.23:1 transmission. 470 an 1442 are also considerations but based on the numbers I've seen, I think 422 is what most '89's need. Ideal wot rpm's are 4400-4600.
540 (13x12) or 542 (13x11.5) are appropriate for 2001's with 1:1 transmissions ('82-88).

I changed out the prop on my '89 last weekend. It came with an OJ Legend 13x16 4Blade. The boat had a weird little wobble when passing through about 2K RPM's. The 13x16 ran about 4200 RPM's WOT, not sure of the speed but probably 43ish. I installed the stock prop from my '92 which is a 14x16 3Blade and it cured the wobble and runs at about 4K WOT. The motor is the 240 HP. Packaged up the OJ to send to Delta for repair. Do they give the discount on repairs or just on new props?
