I have a 79 nautique 351W with what appears to be an automotive alternater no spark arestor and says motorcraft. It has four posts but only two are occupied. The orange (output) and green (field). No ground (black) or auxiliary (brown). I have a 850CCA batt that starts the boat 3-4 times then recharge. Not sure what the previous owner did with the other wires any ideas you electrical gurus other than ger a spark arrestor in it Thanks Rob

screw the spark arrestor,

get a new 50-75 amp marine alternator that is designed for your engine and the wiring harness, bite the bullet and call skidim use the 10% discount code from this site and order the alternator update kit and fix it right.
