Last weekend I had a prop strike at idle that stalled the motor it hit so solid. upon restart everything seamed okay unit we took off across the lake. There is a serious vibration and although the prop feels fine, I feel its the culprit. I understand alignment and shaft run out need to be inspected, but the shaft turns freely as i did before the incident, and no new noises have arrived either. I plan to pull the shaft and adjust everything as needed this winter, but the season only has a couple months left here in Michigan and it would be sweet to be able to bolt a known good prop up to see if things change.
I'm in need of either a good stock 14x16-3RH, a 1442, 470 or possibly 422.
I'm located in Chelsea, MI. even if I could borrow someones spare for a short period to be sure mine is bad that would be awesome.

Boat is an 89 SN 2001 w/ 351 PCM and 1-1.23

Thanks for your time!

If you hit the prop hard enough to stall the engine, it's very likely that the prop has been knocked out-of-kilter, hence the vibration. You are also wise to look at the drive train and pull the shaft. There is a lot of good information on this site about shaft alignment. The shaft could also be bent.

Good luck in your efforts to find a temporary prop. Hopefully some CCFan member in your area can help out.

Sam,
Rob is correct that there's more to check than just the prop. He mentions the shaft but take a look at the strut too.

Thanks fellas. Yeah for sure, was planning for these things. I just got my dial indicator setup and my prop puller back, so with any luck will get out there after work to get some data and the rest of the story lol! It very well could have bent the shaft and or knocked it out of alignment, I was just thinking with as slow as we were going and the low rpm low the prop was spinning, that bending the shaft would be possible but unlikely.

I will however be going back there and yanking that effing stump out of that canal so me nor anyone else needs to deal with it any further!! I grew up on this chain of lakes and have bumped that stump once or twice in the tooner. But it just knocks the skeg of the outboard, I've never touched it in the nautique, and after tonight never will again lol!!

Thanks again yall!

or put a buoy on it

Could do that as well. But the water is unfortunately deepest exactly where this thing resides. Given the amount of boat traffic through there I feel like a buoy would last a weekend before an out of towner or over served individual would run it over lol.
It shouldn't be horrible to move (fingers crossed)!

Check with the DNR 1st, they might not want you to move it yourself.
