Party on Deep Lake this Saturday 8/22 and Sunday 8/23. Lake rules say no skiing until 10am, feel free to arrive before or after 10am, we will be up and about well before then and long after too!!

Open invite to any CCFan, family, kids, friends!!

Location:
On Deep Lake at our Lake House - 38846 North Deep Lake Rd, Lake Villa, Ill 60046

About 1 mile north of Grand Avenue (Rt 132) on Deep Lake Rd.
Our driveway is exactly opposite the church driveway (may have cars park in the church, TBD) on the west side of the road, first long driveway after 7th Avenue.

Food & Drink:
Bring your own cooler and favorite beverages.
We will be firing up the grille for lunch and dinner, thinking we should keep it simple, burgers, dogs, corn on the cob, etc.

Boats:
Parking and trailer parking could be a slight challenge, if bringing a boat park in the church parking lot upon arrival The boat launch is essentially right next door so that part is easy but we are a private lake so you will need a key for the gate and there is no parking at the launch. Our Driveway is a long, single lane and tree lined with no turn around, so do not pull in the driveway with a trailer please! My dock is pretty darn full but there is plenty of space to anchor boats or quite a bit of shoreline if you just want to beach it, so be sure and bring an anchor or 2.

Overnight:
Anyone is welcome to pitch a tent and spend the night as well, I will set one large public tent anyone is welcome to use, it has space for at least 3 or 4 air mattresses.

Let us know if you are coming, bringing boat, what your bringing, head count, etc.

This sounds like an adventure! Wish we could make it! But, girls off to college and a working trip to Barbados this week to pay for it all, will keep us away. Have a great time, be safe, and maybe have a beer or two?

Weather looks nice for Saturday too. I'm looking forward to meeting all of you as a new CC owner this year who missed Green Lake.

One thing Quinner didn't mention is the counter-clockwise boating rule. There are a few slightly anal folks living on the perimeter who make a fuss when Folks go the wrong way. Just think NASCAR and you'll be fine.

See you all there!

CQ, Will you have a second grill available? We'll need something to do the corn on. Also if there's an empty cooler or tub to soak it in for a few hours.

Posted By: quinner
Date Posted: August-20-2015 at 12:09pm
Johnny is bringing his portable Coleman grille and yes I have a tub we can use for soaking.
I also have a large turkey fryer pot if we just want to boil them, may need an extra propane tank though, Tattoo Tim said he may have one.

Randy says he knows how to use the smoker we just got so he may be doing something up in that as well.

great , much easier to just boil the corn. I'll bring the butta!

By the way, have you seen the weather for Saturday? 100% sunshine and 80 degrees, 0% rain. That should work.

Sunday am is a little sketchy but the damage will be done by then.

Hopefully yesterday, today's, and lower temps at night don't cool the lake too much.   its going to be a blast. We have a ball park idea how many people be there Saturday for figuring how much food to bring?

Posted By: quinner
Date Posted: August-20-2015 at 6:00pm
Joel, Lake is 60' deep and spring fed, take more then a few cool nights for that. Water temp is hovering around 80f at the surface.

Looks like we are around 30 people, neighbors, stragglers & local friends could easily bump that by another 10 or so, ballpark 35-40.

Joel,
I'm heading up tomorrow morning early. It will be my 4th trip with the truck and trailer full. Then, I figure 4 more trips with the truck and trailer! Damn, I married a "pack rat"!! She didn't like my idea of getting a dumpster! The moving company comes in a couple days before the closing for the big stuff. I sure hope my wife's estate sale goes well! I bought this hose in 76 and we renovated in 83. Lot's of years to accumulate things. A friend told me the other day that when going through the move hassle, you need to think about how many times you bring things into the house and the few times you take things out!!

I know what you mean Pete.
I am tearing down the old garage now that I have the new one almost complete inside. I filled half of the biggest dumpster you can get with junk stored in the attic and still had to tear down the garage but it all fit. I burned what I could and kept the good wood to be repurposed.
I called it the 20 year purge, if I havent used/needed it in the last two years it got pitched.
I do have to say though after 8 trips up north the fuel you used would have paid for a big Ryder truck and just one trip.

Paul,
I did check Ryder, Uhaul and a local independent. They all wanted around $600 for one day and $850 for two days. That's way too much driving (600 miles), loading and unloading in two days especially by myself. At least diesel is cheap at the moment.

Not too shabby for an event that was planned three whole days out. Too bad I'm so far away. I'm sure it was a good time. I miss having a little 12 footer with a 10 +/- hp motor to zip around in. My brother had one when we were kids. Still has the boat but the 1957 evinrude although still in his possession hasn't run in decades

Randy did show up with his two boys. Got to talk to him a little. Honestly there might not be a lot of pics, I didn't really see cameras out. Except all the cell phones came out right after I yanked HW off the swim raft starting a trick run because I gave it too much throttle. It got a lot of laughs....

Yep, I made it out there John! I wasn't able to make it to GL this year or any other events... so I was glad I got to get out there and finally see some CCFans and take a ride in the Hurricane! No, boat, took the Prius and made it all the way there and back on 18 gallons of gas! Me and the boys needed a little get away... this worked out great.
