My kid broke the spotter's seat bottom on my 1993 Ski Nautique. I replaced it once before, many years ago, just pull all the staples, and slip in a new seat bottom. A hassle, but good as new once replaced.
But I can't seem to find a good source for the seat bottom. It is a fiberglass sheet, probably 1/2 inch think.
If need be I can cut a replica out of a piece of fiberglass.
Any ideas?
Thanks!!

Extruded PVC (XPVC)... Probably 1/2" thick. Trace the shape of the old one before you disassemble the cushion.

| John, When you replaced the original PVC, did you replace it with fiberglass? A 1/2" thick would be pretty heavy and very hard to break.

Thanks TRBenj.
8122, I believe it was fiberglass but I'm not sure. It was definitely not plywood and the 1993 is supposed to be the first year with no wood in it.
I ordered it through Correct Craft back then and they were able to get me one. I talked to my local dealer yesterday and he is checking but wasn't sure about availability. The piece was pretty sturdy but cantilevers off the seat quite a bit in the corner, Both times it broke because someone stepped right in the corner.

I have a 1993 and have re-done the entire interior. As Tim said, that seat base is Extruded PVC material, not fiberglass. Since you purchased it from a dealer some years ago I am quite confident in saying that you got another piece of the XPVC. Mine was also cracked. Actually, I had two cracked observers seat bases with both parts broken in my dual 1993 hulls. I replaced the seat base with a piece of plywood that was treated with CPES liberally before making the seat. I think I went with 1/2", but am not sure. The overhang is not very wide and the seat feels solid with this setup.

Excellent, I'm hearing that West Marine might sell extruded PVC. If that doesn't work, I've got some treated marine grade plywood from a Triton snowmobile trailer. That would probably make an excellent seat base..

Go with the plywood as mentioned and do CPES it. Marine grade is NOT needed.

If you want the plastic stuff just type "rigid PVC sheet" into Google and find a local supplier. Or go with plywood and never deal with it again.
