Installing cam in 312 with clockwise rotation.....utilizing direct gears instead of timing chain set. Need info on how to align the gear/gear marks. Thanks

Aren't there dimples on gears? They should line up. Where did you get the gears? They would be able to tell you for sure.

Yes, there are marks. but I can't get them to "meet" and have both valves closed at #1 tdc on firing stroke. They are the original gears. Was hoping someone out there had a photo ( lost mine) or other reliable reference. Thanks.

Call boat dr.. The manual states how to line them up with a timing chain, but not gears..
