So need advice.. Had my boat winterized last winter. I only took it out once this season and the water hose was never put back on, so it overheated after about 50 yards and I brought it in. I replaced impeller but now wondering if I really even need to re Winterizing. Thoughts??? Would it have even pushed the antifreeze out or brought water in?

Since you're in SC, drain it and don't worry about adding any more anti.

Sounds like you fell prey to the old tactic the marinas use to get you back in for "summerization" so they can stick it to one more time a year!!

Do you think there is anything to drain? If yes, what and where ??

If the boat is going to see any freezing temperatures for any period of time, I sure wouldn't take the chance that there is still water in it. Where to drain? What boat is it?

I apologize off the bat, but it always makes me feel great to read these "winterize" matters when living in Florida. It has been in the 80's this week, high 80's! I never have to concern myself with this chore. We will boat and ski through the winter months, Thank God. The winterize changes for the Smith family is less ice, and pack a sweatshirt!! However, reality is ON for twin Lauren, out in Colorado State for college!! Brrrrr!!

Scott,
I went into your old posts and found you have an 05 Air with a closed cooling system. If this is the boat you are asking about in this thread then I'll see if I can help with the draining. Open the sea cock. Remove and drain the cup on the sea strainer. Then there's the RWP. Remove the lower hose. Last you will have drain plugs in each exhaust manifold. Remove them and make sure you probe the holes with a wire to make sure there's no sediment plugging them. If I missed anything, I'm sure someone will be along and add.

EDIT: I almost forgot the heat exchanger. The low point for the raw water side will be ether a hose or a drain plug.

Careful! If the boat has a fully closed loop cooling system, the exhaust manifolds will have anti freeze in them and if you open them up you'll drain the system! A half system will have lake or ocean water in the exhaust manifolds and the risers, a full system will have lake or ocean water in the risers only.

John,
http://www.pcmengines.com/media/images/imagesL510014.pdf" rel="nofollow - It's a 05 ZR6 with a half system.

A full system is pretty rare even for salt water boats. The ZR6 uses the fresh water 1/2 system only because of the aluminum components the coolant come in contact with.

You guys are awesome, and mr. Smith I am from Windermere 😱.. So to be clear, it was fully winterized last season and was only run for about 3 minutes and the water hose to the side was not even connected ( hence the overheating). Still think I need to go through these steps? Yes, it is an 05 air with zr6. Sad sad sad that it got run 3 minutes for an entire season!
