Although this is a matter of opinion, I'm curious which boat cover is best in regards to fit, durability, and sunlight fading resistance. I have an '82 Barefoot and need a cover, preferably down to the water line. What do you recommend? I'm looking to spend $300-$500. Also, I've seen some CC's with bows for the rear area to support the cover, can these be bought or are they custom made? Thank you

http://www.skiboatcovers.com/" rel="nofollow - Here is another place to check too. Tim recommended it to me but it was in discussion about my 95. They have some pricing on line too.

Bows and brackets can be found at west marine or similar marine supply. You just screw the small female bracket to each side, the bows themselves typically come in one length, you just stick it in one side, bend it over and mark where you think best, then cut to fit. If you go to an actual store, they will typically have a fiberglass bow nowadays. If buying online, just order the brackets and go to hardware store for a wood piece. If you don't wanna screw anything in, you can make up a short pole on a pedestal and put a tennis ball on top or make some other such stand, but it's a bit harder to get the cover right without knocking out of place, and harder to stoRe or stow when not in use.

I made a support out of 1/2" PVC tubing, a 45 to take it down to a 1/2x3/4 reducing tee, and 3/4" PVC for the feet. It supports the cover well and I didn't glue it so it stores well also.

Angola is the best that I have owned. I ordered a water line cover for my 2005 Super Air 'Nautique a year or so ago. They asked for measurements from the rub rail to the bottom of the side ever three feet, and mine turn out outstanding. If you have a tower like I do ( i would not recommend it on a BFN), but if you did, I would recommend telling them to attach velcro to the shirt partitions so that they attach to each other. My cover fits perfectly, but I had to get a local company to attach velcro to the partitions. I want the water line skirt to protect the sides from the sun. So the non attached partitions allowed the sun to shine on the side where the splits were. other than that I highly recommend angola canvas. I would also ask for the sunbrella material. I can put my boat up wet and the next day my black breathable sunbrella cover gets so hot that it dries out the boat fast.
