howdy all,

im having issues with the shift selector on tranny. when cold is it extremely hard to engage either forward or reverse. once tranny warms to operating temp it will shift just fine. no other known issues with tranny as far as harsh engagements or slipping. normal reverse whine sounds fine. fluid looks good... double checked alignment and smooth as butter in water.... has anyone seen this problem before? if so is there a fix w/out tearing down unit.....

this is a direct drive PCM 40A unit with 1.23 reduction out back.

thanks so much for your time.

Disconnect the control cable and engage manually to isolate if the cable is binding.

Do you know if you have ATF or 20W oil in the transmission??
Might be worth doing a oil change and flush and switch to ATF if not sure.

Hello Sporty99
I am having a similar problem. I disconnected the shift cable and The operation of the shift cable through the shifter works with no difficulty. when I try to manually push the shift lever on the transmission with the cable disconnected it is difficult to engage and disengage but same as you, once it has warmed up it seems to work fine.
Did you find a solution?
