Terry, I see you are a recent new member to CCfan so welcome to the group.
Are the old stringers still in the hull or have they been removed? I ask since getting the measurements from the old is the best. There's no half guessing plus you can take some pictures for reference. You say you want to replace the stringers from the battery box aft. Isn't the battery under the forward seat and the stringers continue just forward of the foot rest? I mention this since I recommend full length stringer replacement. It's just as easy or even easier to go a couple more feet than to try to scab on to the old and sister plus, it's a stronger sounder structure.
If you need the 318 mount locations, I suggest drilling them for the lags after the engine is set in place and a partial shaft alignment is done. Just make sure the engine goes back in fore to aft in the same spot. Fore to aft engine placement is critical in a small hull. Hopefully you still have the old stringers so you can get the mount/hole location measurements. If not, that's where one of our members can help out.
How about some pictures and telling us more about the project? Have you been able to find some of the stringer replacement threads and read them? The FAQ thread in the maintenance section has great links.
A few key suggested practices for stringers are to use Douglass Fir, CPES (clear penetrating epoxy sealer) and epoxy resin. Prep suggestion is grinding off any bilge coating and excess resin where the new glass layup is going.
