I know there are some threads on cleaning vinyl. I've looked in the FAQ's as well as done an on site search and a google search without success even trying different key words. Can anyone help with finding the threads? On line, I did find an interesting youtube of a MC   owner using StarBrite Vinyl Cleaner/Polish that he swears by??!! I'm trying to clean up the mold on my wife's Seadoo that's been in storage for 3 years. JP, Thanks much for the link. It reminded me of Waldo's suggestion. I'm going to try it first since I have the material on hand. Then, if that doesn't work I'll get some Starbrite. | 3M products worked good for me. I believe there is a mildew stain remover that is bleach based, but did not seem to dry out the vinyl like others I have tried. Follow up with the vinyl conditioner/protector. |

I wonder what ever happened to Waldo? The family rule about taking a shower reminds me of the news interview I saw back some time. A woman was outside a dollar store at a grand opening being interviewed. From her accent, I could tell she was from the south. The reporter was asking her why she liked shopping at the dollar store. Hi Pete, you can find a product at the Dollar Store called Totally Awesome. It comes in a purple bottle. Guaranteed to clean the vinyl quickly. Make sure to rinse well with fresh water, then apply vinyl treatment of your choice such as 303. I have used it for years, will not damage vinyl if flushed after cleaning. |

i don't think the actual product matters as much as using a brush with whatever you use. you won't get mold out of deep grain just wiping with a rag or sponge. I just unwrapped my '99 SAN last weekend and there was A LOT of mold. i used hot, soppy water and babes seat soap with a rag at first...didn't cut it. I ended up scrubbing the entire sunpad with babes and an old tooth brush...took about 20 minutes, but looks brand new. ------------- As far as I can tell, I'm not quite sure... |

Chris, She pulls me on the tube! Damn 580 has always had a weak spark. Iridium plugs do help. I'm waiting on a new coil as it's primary Ohm'd out of spec. For a 1991, the coil wasn't easy to find. The armature Ohm'd out good and there's no way to check the CDI box. I'm hoping the coil will improve the spark.. Time for me to come out of the shed too - I still have a tube, It hasn't been inflated for many years though! Jetskis are nasty to work on, Some guys pull the engine just so they can get to the screws. I thought I'd report. I now have a very clean and still mildew stained Seadoo vinyl seat!! Per Waldo, I tried his first Oxyclean suggestion. Now effect. Then when picking up the Oxy at the dollar store I found a small bottle on clearance marked "Tech". Well, now I know why it was a clearance item. No effect. Not wanting to go all the way with Waldo's beauty supply formula that he warned about using at our own risk, I resorted to trying the Magic Eraser. No effect! I'm now convinced that the mildew stains are deep into the vinyl itself. My wife will just have to live with it! I wonder if you were to use Babe's cleaner and 303, if in the future it would help. Take pictures and make note where the original stains are. There is a product, it used to be called (I think) Rejuvinol. It used by professional home mold remover guys. It really works ! I think it can be found online, but the product name has been changed. Search "janitorial mold removers" or something like that. |

Al, Thanks. I did some searching for mold removers but I'm just coming up with bleaches and disinfectants used typically after water damage to a home. The Rejuvinol does come up as a line of cosmetics. Their primary products seem to revolve around hair and skin restoration. I've never seen or met you but is that how you remembered the product? I'm still looking but as mentioned, the wife understands the vinyl may stay the way it is. She's still happy that I'm putting in the effort to get it out on the water again. Not 100% for certain on the product name Pete. It could be a case where the tech makes-up a name for an item. As an example, a friend of mine came to work with me at Malibu. He started calling a Reed and Prince screwdriver a Rod Impedance screwdriver. I liked the new name so much, that it's just stuck with me all these years. So, if we do meet one day and you need me to hand you a screwdriver for a Phrearson screw, you'll have to ask for a Rod Impedance. I'll try to find more info on this. It's some sort of industrial antimicrobial. It worked very well on leather without the harshness and stench of bleach. |

Al, At work, what is it needing the R&P (Rod impedance )? You mention Malibu. Is it a Malibu dealership that also works on old boats?I kick myself every time I think about lending out my set of R&P's. It was a full set of Snap-ons #1 to #4. and never got it back. There was a product available a bit ago called "Pink Away". It was for a pesky mold that stained the vinyl pink and was almost impossible to remove. They have since been sold off, improved upon, and picked up by a new http://gestaltscientific.com/" rel="nofollow - company I had this pink mildew issue in our new boat. Huge PIA. When I contacted this company, the cost was kinda high, but supposedly it did work. Their product uses some checmical in conjunction with UV light. I believe the UV will kill the mildew, but it may also damage the vinyl as well.
