So, I've got a used PP paddle wheel system that I want to install in my boat. I'm a bit confused at how the system works. The teflex cable that opens the carb up pulls aft to "give it more gas". The PP cable attaches from the front. Does the PP system somehow "push" on the teflex cable to open up the throttle somehow? Hopefully somebody here understands my question.

And then secondly, this is going to go back to the "sticky throttle" issue. My MV-2 currently is a set it and forget it type system. It won't slowly return back to idle unless I pull it back. This would seem to not work with the Perfect Pass system, right? If so - what do I need to do? Is my MV-2 set up wrong? Do I need a stronger return spring on the carb? Is my throttle cable too sticky perhaps? I can push on the cable manually and move the MV-2, but it takes quite a bit of force.

Help me, o' wise ones.

So, both incorrect assumptions luckily for you.

PP can't add any more throttle than you give it. When the throttle cable pulls back from the throttle lever moving, the PP cable (fully taught since it self-winds fully taught on startup) goes with it from the front. At this point no different than not having PP. As PP settles into the target RPM/speed it will unwind and wind its servo/cable which allows it to modulate the throttle (against the return spring's action) while engaged. It does this WITHIN the total throttle range you give it with the throttle lever position.

The lever itself is none the wiser to what's happening as PP creates and removes it's own slack against the return spring.

The lever does not need to be self returning and ideally does not self return.

Think if it this way- if you lost power to the servo or if your servo cable broke you would not be able to add throttle properly with the lever.
