Coming from someone who is 15 years old, going out on the boat for awhile just with my dad would be cool. After that, maybe do what John suggested or something else that he'd enjoy. Lastly, a nice father-son dinner at his favorite restaurant. But, that's something I'd do on my birthday. What is he into? Any favorite sports like racing? Take him to one of those real go kart places.

Find an aerobatic instructor in your area, You can take a 1/2 hour or an hour ride.
Or just take an orientation flight where you go up for the same amount of time but without the aerobatics. They will let you have the controls. Almost any small airport will offer this ride. Have fun and happy birthday

He wants a new X box.. yeah.. that aint gonna happen. The kid keeps outgrowing everything. Looks like nobody loves him. I'm going to hook him up with a bunch of nice shorts and some new trainers, a new B ball. maybe a new shammy handle for the tow rope. Im looking for a stunt pilot thing if I can afford it, perfect because he wants to drive jets for the coast guard. Maybe I should just send him for a weekend with Quinner.. you know.. make him a man

If he's already into flying then that's definitely the direction to go. The aerobatics sounds like a blast.

Mark Voisard is the kite flyer on Eagle Lake. Get a hold of the new Cypress Gardens ski team or seascamper if you want to do that.

We went out for pizza, got embarrassed by a bunch of weirdo servers singing happy birthday, Ate some cake and got some cash in a card and was followed up a "get a hair cut and tuck in your shirt" style kick in the ass...
An airplane ride, seriously, Hell whats the encore going to be when he's 21?? (Quinner, don't answer that)

The Xbox could be a good thing. Also you can have fun with it. I wouldn't give it to him right away of you were to get one, then he'd play it all day. But you could have fun with it by taking him out to dinner and have him "clean" his room when you get back. He'll be mad until he discovers an Xbox in his room. Then you set the ground rules on no playing it for 4-5 hours at a time. Get your homework done before you play it. If you do happen to get it, don't let it take over his life.

That is the one in Miami I was thinking of.

He has the X box before the latest version. He plays it waaayyy too much for my taste. No TVs or games in kids rooms. Lock your door and Ill remove it. I'm kinda mean that way.
He does love to ride cable though.. maybe Ill take him for weekend up to Orlando, ride OWC, see John and Eddie for some eye peelers and hit the drop zone. That is gonna cost me a fortune but it sounds like fun. Exhausting but fun.

Cable park is not very busy these days up here. I pass it every day to and from work. There's some outdoor carts nearby you can take him to as well as some shooting ranges if you felt the need to blow off some rounds.

well.....no bueno on idea #2.....

had to laugh out loud at Quinner's other suggestions.

bring him this way. We'll ski with the gators in the morning. Nice non-salty water. Then cable park in the afternoon. Carts and bad food and old cars at Olde Towne in the evening. We took Mojo to the carts there once...he had a blast bouncing the other kids off the curbs!

This is just me but personally I liked and still do things instead of experiences. Experiences cost alot and are gone as soon as they are done. But a new say slalom ski would last for years and many days of fun. Or if he is anything like the guys on here go pick up a classic ski boat project (if you have the room) and work on it with him and give it to him when your done with the father son project. I would have killed for my dad to do that with me.

Gordon we built the '79 together. I am looking for a truck project to build for his first whip. He has a nice Jobe ski and a bad a$$ Ronix Bill board with Shred town bindings 1 year old and there just plain isn't a better board made yet. So I called Eddie and Im pretty sure we are headed to Orlando, crash at Club Olsen and go kill the lake in the morning.

I still remember every detail of the week spent tent camping and fly fishing the Salmon River in the Sawtooth mountains with my Dad when I was 16. Just us two guys. My dad has been gone 6 years now. I cant remember anything he ever bought me. Pretty sure we are gonna go shred with the Orlando Crew and pretty sure Cam is going to be STOKED!

You are right on that for sure. I more ment getting him something that then he could do with you for a long time. Like if he did not have a ski or something. Like for me my dad bought me a dirt bike and then we had so much fun growing up riding together or I remember getting my first shot guy and all the hunting we got to do together because I had that. I ment buying him something that you two can use for a long time. But going skiing with him in orlando would be a great thing too.

don't take him skiing with Eddie, too costly. he'll teach him to barefoot and he won't ever want to ride that wakeboard again. the money you spent on the board will be just sitting in the garage never getting used, and you'll be paying for twice as much gas to make the boat pull him 38 instead of 19.

True.. he wakeboards at 24mph (think OMG) and barefoots at around 39. All I ever do is put gas in that damn boat anyway. That's OK, putting gas the boat makes me happy.

Jbear is a genius. We followed his plan to a Tee. Barefooting all morning, cable at OWC through the afternoon. Ended with kart racing and classic car show. Home at midnight. I tried to get into Twin Peaks for supper but they had a PPV fight on and $10 cover. I loaded all his buddies in our boat yesterday and rode all day after that! I had to use my truck with a strap and lock the hubs to get his butt out of bed this morning for school!
Thanks John. Thanks Eddie..So awesome! Ill work on getting some video up tonight. After my nap of course.

It was a good day. I'm still a little hoarse from constantly yelling to get his hips forward and keep his knees bent but it was really cool seeing him foot for the first time, It's always cool to see that.
Dad and the whole crew were pretty proud of him. I'm sure it was one of those birthdays a that a young man will remember for a very long time sharing with his Dad. That's really what it's all about. I felt pretty privileged to be a part of that.

NICE!!!

And admittedly much more affordable than a day at WBC. My first run was on my 15th birthday as well.

Was just thinking how a concern most newbs have is what if they catch their toe... usually just have to show them a pic of them selves after to put that thought to rest... I think Cams toes look like eagle talons getting ready to grab a rabbit at times!!!

Nice job CCF birthday squad! Is that his first beer too?
