Been going through my 86 Martinique BR, getting familiar with items and doing component upgrades or r&r where needed.
The throttle cable snapped last summer, so it got replaced. I have purchased the trans cable in case it goes any time soon. Its running the original steering cable as far as i know...at stand still, the steering is smooth with some slight resistance, but i wouldn't call it tight or stiff yet. At speed, its a little firmer or tighter with the rudder force against water flow, but again, not what i would consider tight

My question is what are the signs that the steering cable is going bad? Does it get noticeably stiff to turn or rough? Is there any maintenance that can be done to extend its life/use ?
As always, thsnks for any feedback....Jeff
