I have a 1992 open bow. Went to the lake saturday and turned the key. The starter would never turn off, even with the key turned off? I had to disconnect the battery to stop it. I think it may be the ignition switch, but not yet sure? Any ideas? Thanks

that sounds awful. i would hate to hear the starter whine the whole time i was trying to get the battery disconnected.
i would think it would be the ingnition switch. i have never done it but i think you could test it with an ohm meter

Search. Its been covered ad nauseum. There really isn't anything new to add.

My 98 4runner did that a couple of years ago. Get a new starter.
