We were out today running the boat and the stereo. The stereo is on the accessory breaker . When I turn the ignition off, the 40 amp circuit breaker in the electrical panel is tripped. I have to wait for the engine block to cool (or, at least 5-10 minutes to pass) until I can push the red button to reset the breaker. Any ideas?

breakers operate on heat, so it's possible that you need a new breaker because of it's age/condition.     Seems like you may have an ignition short also, as it sounds like the breaker trips with the cycling of the key....   I think some more description is necessary to really narrow down the issue.

-recurring issue?
- Battery voltage/condition?
- Wire condition (large main wires corrode, and cause a heavier amp draw)
- recent modificaitons?
- electrical system maintenance?
- clean/tight connections under the dash?
