I have a 1974 SN with a bent shaft. Currently it's an A.R.E. Shaft system. 50-1/8" x 1". Can I run a stock shaft without the stock couplers? Thanks |

Matthew, Stick with the double taper ARE shaft. If you went back to a single taper you would need a new coupling half. I have a single taper shaft out of a 80 SN with coupler. Measures 50-1/8" You will have to pull motor or at least lift high enough to slide shaft from inside to install. $75 plus the ride. ------------- Hobby Boats can be expensive when the hobbyist is limited on their own skill and expertise. 1993 Shamrock "fat" 20. 2008 Nautique 196 5.0 |

Heading to Back to the Fifties in Minnesota today. Figured there's way more boat people there. So I started calling around and found a prop shop who has a machinist who is going to straighten my bent driveshaft!!! Basically drop it off tomorrow and pick it up next week before leaving town. It'll be $250 labor. It's called Formula prop and marine. I will post the results. Should be around half the price of a new shaft. Cheers |
