Oh boy, am I in trouble....quit giggling....

I have searched/google and have been unable to find the drive shaft length for a 1981 ski nautique. All stock, 351 with 1:1. what to replace, have a wobble,   I know it could be a couple of problems, but I am trying to keep down time to a minimum. I hit a rock last year and it has not been right since. Skidim is going to ask for a measurement, I don't want to pull the boat out of the water, pull the shaft, measure, wait for part....you get it. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Dan

50 sounds right to me

81 was same basic hull with some chine mods.

When you talk to SKI Dim tell them you want an Elbert's ARE double tapered shaft. It's well worth the extra money just for ease of installation/removal. Elbert's also has a good list of shaft lengths for a lot of boats and I'd be surprised if they didn't know what length you need in one of their shafts.

Get the puller for the tapered front coupling too.

4 &1/2 inch angle grinder or sawzall to cut old shaft and the new ARE goes in in no time at all without having to mess around with an interference fit coupling like your old shaft.

Like I said well worth the price for lack of aggravation.

As far as I know 80 and 81 are identical.

I think you're right and I was thinking about when that hull became the Ski Tique in 83 or so.

That's when it had some chine mods

Parts have been ordered. Thanks for your help. She will get me though the holiday as long as I stay off 1800 rpm. I'm a little disappointed in the lack of double entendra messaging that I was so expecting from this crew. Mr. Oertel at least tried to get it started. Have a Happy 4th to all. Dan

Well here we go..............

How long was your old shaft?

How about the new one?

Did you get the double taper ARE so it goes in and out easier?

Probably more to come
