What was the last hull (ID number) with wooden stringers or the first one made of 100% composite? I know it's generally accepted that 1992/1993 was the change but was that true with every model and could it be the case that an early 1993 could have wooden stringers?

Just the Ski Nautique was composite starting 93..... And maybe the Sport. But all Excels and BFN's were wood I believe until their discontinuation.

The year of the boat refers to the model year and not manufacturer date. For example my 95 Sport was made in Nov 94. Model year usually changed with updates design features.

From what I've read any ski or sport denoted as a 93 would have composite construction.

After studying the 1993 brochure, near the back where all of the features of each model are listed, on this site it would appear that the ICS (Integrated Composite Stringers) were only in the 1993 Ski and Sport, and later, and not in the Excel. I'll check in the 1994 brochure.

ICS is not listed for 1994 Excels either so it would appear that all Excels came with wooden stringers as stated by a previous reply.

If a Ski Nautique or a Sport Nautique had a hull ID # ending in 293, indicating that it was built in '92 but is a '93 model, would you be confident that it had ICS construction and not wooden stringers? How could you tell....remove a lag bolt maybe?

Need one more preceding digit (letter) to nail down the build month if you really wanted to know when it was born... All that 293 tells us is that it's a 93 built in 92. Model year 93 = composite on the SN/Sport... End of story.

100% confident: A 1993 model Ski or Sport has composite stringers. There are other differences as well, like the pylon is black anodized instead of polished aluminum.

Just a little tidbit, If it has purple in it it's guaranteed to be a 93 or newer.
