Hi all,

My water intake filter on my 81 SN got clogged yesterday. Before I realized it, the motor was HOT, hit 240 and stayed there even after I shut it off. After cooling down, the motor started and seems to be fine (have only ran in neutral).

2 questions:

Anything I should check or do since it was so hot?

If for whatever reason a motor gets real hot, what are the best steps to keep from damage?

Thanks.

-------------
Brent

as long as you waited until it was completely cooled before you started the motor then there's not much to worry about, just check for melted hoses and replace if needed.

I would add, that you should keep an eye on the water for oil for a while incase you toasted a head gasket.

Most likely a warped head, which would blow the gasket.

I just had that problem, i blew the manifold gasket and melted a spark plug. check those two things, very simple thing. you shoud tighten the manifold bolts once a month!
