I hit a rock going 25mph. It ripped the rudder clean off. What should I check for underneath as far as damage when replacing it? Hull cracking? rudder pass through flange metal bent? I already know the drill with the shaft and strut. Thanks, Adam

Adam Look for cracking around the rudder port inside and out.

Do you still have tracking fins, a strut, shaft, and propeller?
Probably want to check those for alignment while you're down there.

Gonna be an easy fix. I went out to mark the rock with a buoy and found the rudder. One in a million!

Gorilla glue might be overkill? I'd go with Elmer's.
Don't let quinner talk you into rubber cement, he prefers it for the taste.

Think the prop is fixable with those chunks taken out of it?

It was perfectly clean three months ago. I cleaned with "on off" and then Marine waxed it. I can't believe the plant matter content in my lake is that aggressive/high. You can see where I cleaned again with "on off" around the rudder again to look for cracks. I'm more surprised the wax didn't hold off the plant material longer.
You can actually see the reflection of the stone driveway where I cleaned it again in that picture.

I think if you go in at an angle with a drywall screw that should be sufficient.

Mark this for the calander. Classic CCFan right here. A couple wraps of duct tape over the glue line should be just fine. Really quality work with this pic. Hats off and cheers brother.

haha good attitude. You will be thanking whoever it was that reccomended the double taper shaft when it comes time to check for straight and get the new prop in there. That prop i'm afraid is toast. Sure would make a nice center piece for the dinner table or coffee table.

Adam, All of the above repair suggestions are fantastic!!
On the serious side here, do check the shaft for straightness especially aft of the strut.

That lake, (chebacco) used to brown my Makos white hull after an afternoon of being in there haha. come to think of it, it has ruined a number of my bathing suits and PFDs as well!
