Hello Friends,
I have a 1998 GT40 that has been running great all summer. At the beginning of the summer I did the following maintenance items -new battery -new oil filter and oil change -new plugs and plug wires
last summer -change the fuel filter in the fuel canister
As i said the boat has been running great all summer. Last weekend went to the lake boat fired right up off the trailer and i parked it for the evening. The next morning the boat wouldn't start. Here are the key details that i can provide: -the battery and starter seemed to be turning over -the lanyard / safety switch was checked and it was engaged -when i turned the key i could hear fuel being shot into the fuel canister -after attempting to start it seemed like it was flooding or there was a strong odor of gasoline
Any suggestions! It's puzzling to me why it would run so great right of the trailer and all summer and then just not start at all.

well, if you have fuel, then the issue is either spark of air. check to make sure you have spark and report back... water has a funny way of making problems appear, I think murphy is scared of trailers Pictures would be great too, we love seeing other people's boats.

That thread really doesn't apply as that was about the earlier models without an FCC Check for spark Check fuel pressure Then get back to us with what you find then we can start eliminating things and hopefully track it down.

Thanks gun-driver! I noted when I read through the thread that it applied to boats without an FCC. I changed the fuel filter on my last year and let me tell ya, getting that damn canister off was a chore and a half. Not to toot my own horn but I workout regularly with big weights and it took myself and my mechanic friend double teaming that dude with a strap wrench to eventually break it loose. Thanks for your help. I noticed you were one of the key figures in the other posting....did you get your problem figured out?

Yes and no. New pump worked all weekend but I think it's the placement of the pump and the crappy gas we get now. Buddy has a Malibu with the Monsoon motor it uses the same pump mounted it the same general area but a little further back and lower away from the heat. Going to look at moving the mount on mine and see what happens.
