I'm looking for a good spray/cleaner for the water spots for use when we pull off the lake. I had some "Babe's Spot Solver" that came with the boat when I bought it about 6 months ago, but I have run out. I really want the best bang for the buck. I know there are some really expensive products out there that I don't care to spend my money on, but I don't want to use vinegar either. Just something my guests can use to help clean up after a day of use.

FYI, I use my boat in the Utah mountain lakes, so it only gets use from April to October. When it is in use, I use it between 1-2 times a week, with a few long weekend uses in there. I don't know if it matters to know how long it will sit between use, but I thought I would throw that in there in case it is helpful info.

Somewhat related topic; I would love to know if anyone has any suggestions on how to get my tower shiny again. I have looked at the hardware stores to see if they have a powder coat polish, but I can't find anything.

I use Babes Boat Bright (different from Spot Solver) for quick wipe downs. You can save a few bucks buying it by the gallon, and refilling the little spray bottles.

Babes, Boat Bling Hot Sauce, Spotless and vinegar are all popular options. No sure which is the most cost effective other than the vinegar.

Maybe it's the Mormon influence out there of seeking economical products?

Take it easy there. I hadn't heard anything on what was out on the market. Just hoped for some good opinions as there are several products out there selling for way more than they are worth. I mean "best bang for the buck" is kind of my motto for the boat as a whole. Otherwise I'd have a brand new one. I'm on a budget, but I do want to take good care of the boat, as we hope to keep it for quite a while. We love it.

I would put a good coat of Collinite paste wax on it, then wipe it down while its still wet you should be good to go. Works well on mine.

Thanks. I'm very happy with the gelcoat. I have only had it 6 months though, and would like to keep it up, That's the reason for the post. There are a couple spiderwebs I plan to take care of in the next year or two. Upholstery work will come first though.

I like the Babe's products, but I hate having to use the Spot Solver to remove the water spots and then use the Boat Bright for the cleaner/wax application.

I prefer to use the Boat Bling Hot Sauce because it is one application that removes water spots and includes the cleaner/wax treatment, too, and it is also available by the gallon.

+1 for the collinite and wipe down as soon as you pull out of water. But based on your photo... keep doing what you are doing!

Collinite is a great wax. but at the price i wouldn't wipe the boat with it every time you use the boat. it is a wax and will continue to protect as long as you dont use a wax cutting soap to clean.

I just recently started using collinite but I only applied it once at the beginning of the season and once midway but it got a lot of use. But in between fishing trips I use or-pine(the green not the yellow) which has wax in it and will not remove wax. the yellow does not have wax in it. but it has very good stain removing qualities and can be applied with a soft scrub brush.
takes dried blood stains out of non skid without much elbow grease so should help with water spots

edit** also you mentioned the tower. Woodys wax in the spray is what we use on our outriggers and it keeps them nice and shiny most of the season with just a spray down of fresh water after a trip. It has fish oil in it and will leave a slight film that dries up eventually but it surely protects well. not sure if it will leave the desired result on a wakeboard tower but it couldn't hurt to try.

We didn't say to wipe it down with Collinite. We meant to apply Collinite, then at the end of the day wipe it down while its still wet.

My home-brewed spot remover:

1 part cleaning vinegar
3 parts distilled water (or soft water)
5 or 6 drops of Dawn dishwashing soap
5 or 6 drops of liquid carnauba wax

Mix it all up in a spray bottle. Works great for after boating.

I was going to say we use 50:50 vinegar to soft tap water for the waterspots and it works like a charm...but it takes the wax off so you have to be sure to keep waxing.

This little recipe is pretty slick!

Hot Sauce is by far the best product on the market. I didn't even wax mine this year and it still looks freshly waxed. It is a spot remover and silicon sealer (not a spray wax).

I don't wipe it down if it sits in the water for a weekend just when it comes out or the deck gets dirty from feet/water etc.

Hot sauce smells great and works well if the boat is dry and very well if the boat is wet. 1 20 dollar bottle lasts me all summer.

Which do you prefer???

I went through the entire wetsand/3M cut and polish/Collinite process last spring and the boat looked great. After one summer it looks like crap again. Had a bottle of Just Ducky in the camper so I tried that on the water spots yesterday and it didn't help. Just ordered some Hot Sauce. Arizona hard water and sun will be a good test for it. I will report back.

I ended up getting a gallon of Hot Sauce. I like that it cleans and protects in one step. Hopefully it works out well. I think there were enough positive comments about it on here that it is a safe option.

In case anyone is interested, good ole walmart is selling the 20 ounce bottles of hot sauce (as well as other boat bling products) for $13. Have to admit, I ordered some for pick up after all the good reviews on this thread.

I did the same, I've been wanting to switch over to Hot Sauce but gotta use up my babes stuff first.   Detailed my RV this weekend with the babes, that did the trick.

I think I'll get some of the Hot Sauce too. I've been struggling to find something to remove the water spotting on my glass shower door!!

The Boat Bling Vinyl Sauce works well, too. It doesn't leave that greasy feeling that some vinyl cleaners do.

The Hot Sauce is awesome. I wiped the boat down yesterday and a summer's worth of water spots came off with one application. Boat looks great again. Great stuff!
