Saddened today to learn of the passing of an old ski club friend by the name of Bill Darroch. Name won't mean anything to most here but Bill "lurked" a great deal and often commented under the byline of his longtime love and CCF member NautiqueNut. Bill joined our ski club in the early 70's and his first Correct Craft purchase was a Skier owned by Jim Patchett....our first backwards guy and the 3rd person in the world to obtain a masters rating. Bill owned Correct Crafts for most of his life including a beautifully restored '78 Ski Nautique and an "81 Nautique that was to be his "next project" almost to the time of his passing.
We reconnected with Bill about a year ago through this site and were able to share numerous conversations and memories about skiing, barefooting, and Correct Crafts. Bill had hoped to be able to make one last trip to Lake X with the gang. Some may remember his "package deal" of the '78 and the "81 in the For Sales back in the spring. His '78 went to Texas [through this site I believe] and just before he passed a brother/sister team purchased the '81 with the intent to fully restore which pleased him to no end.
Bill had a spot on memory and said his love affair with our boats began his first trip up to our club site on the Sandusky Bay when my brother and I came rumbling up to the dock in my '71 promo. Thanks to our sport, our boats, and most of all this site for putting us back in touch with a great guy! Although on dalysis and once again battling numerous cancers Bill was a tough, strong-willed, active, and courageous guy to the end. Bill passed away on July 1st.
Our heart-felt sympathy goes out to Lisa. [NautiqueNut]

Sorry to hear of your ski buddies passing Bill. It is indeed a wonderful thing we have here on the site. We all have numerous ski buddies across the globe that otherwise we wouldn't have if it weren't for CCFan and love of CC's. To be able to reconnect with an old ski bud from days gone by because of it; makes it more special. You'll ski with him again one day. Prayers to you, his wife and his family. Thanks for posting.

Bill
Sorry to hear of this - as I mentioned to John it seems as though there is far too much of this these days.
Certainly gives you cause to take a moment and realize how fortunate we are even with all that we may consider our obstacles or challenges in life.

Be well and have a Merry Christmas

Thanx Kevin...

The friendships that we have made thru these boats are priceless. The time my family and my brother's family has spent together is priceless. Not sure where I'd be without my C/CFan buds.

Well said Bill....
