everyone says type f for older velvet
drive, saying it takes a little over a quart. looked everywhere for type f did find type fa for older ford vehicles. will this be allright or what? ------------- fredo68 |

The older types used type A. My local NAPA carries it because people who have old farmall tractors use it.

the drive was rebuilt about 2 years
ago by ft wayne transmission, so in that case just go ahead and use dexron3 ------------- fredo68 |

dextron III or II what ever is available at the parts store. Just add a little of the second quart, you don't want to over fill it. Tim , thanks for your help with my rear seal issue. You were right on the money.The cc dealer ( Buxton Marine ) said the same thing today.I'm gonna fix it this winter , dealer said it was ok as well.On subject of lubes - I know strait 40 wt for my 82 is out dated oil , but cc dealer still says I should use it for this old motor. They stick to what the older tranny & motor manuals say at cc here in Dallas. Dealer here only upgrades oils on the newer boats . I thought that sounded crazy and called PCM, they backed it up.Not what I would do on my Acura,Jeep or Chevy , but they are the boat pros . | It makes sense, if you use older types of oils your motor will not last as long, thus you will buy more replacement parts or even better for CC; a new boat. |
