Replaced the starter on the 88 Dominique and the bendix is not engaging the flywheel. Makes a crunching noise, but the motor isnt turning over or moving. Motor turns easily with a socket. What should i be looking at? Starting to think with all of the starter issues ive had that there is something else wrong. Any suggestions wuld be helpful. Thanks. Brett in WNY.

Brett,
Where did you get the new starter? Do you still have the old one or did you turn it in for the core? If you still have it, pull the new and compare the nose with the old.

Actually, knowing the hull type is of little use to the solution

have you inspected the bendix yet?

when you compare them, take pictures and post them along with the part numbers...someone will be able to help you (not me though)

Here's a link to your http://correctcraftfan.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=40511&KW=&title=88-dominique" rel="nofollow - old thread with part numbers for what would work.

Those numbers (Arco 70101, 70201) have the right nose depth of 2 3/8 inches for your engine and rotate the engine the right way for your RH engine

The RH engine rotation was figured out in previous threads/posts
