Currently replacing all steering components, however i can't figure out how this mount is removed? Seems the shaft is being held in in the transome some how after removing the 4 mounting screws. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Excuse the miss-wording the swivel mount is mounted on a stringer or support beam not the transom. Not sure why i typed transom. |

Looks sorta like a Mastercraft mount. Normally that ball stud is threaded thru the stringer with a nut or sometimes a bolt. Your going to have to do some exploring. I bet that a little gentle persuasion with a hammer and screwdriver MIGHT knock it off the stringer. Maybe it was sealed with some 3M 5200 or some other really strong adhesive The boat does seem to be pretty far from original. |

The mount looks kinda homemade, I would either clean it up where it is and leave it alone or get out the hole saw and the foam axe so I could get to the hidden bolt under the floor, behind the stringer. Why did they not weld a wrench to that particular bolt ? It's the only bolt in the whole entire craft that a person can't get to. ------------- Keep it....from sinkin' |

| Oh persuasion with a hammer and wedge was useless, stringer is one tuff cookie. Iam assuming the proper way to remove, is to remove the peice of floor to get to the other side of stringer, where iam assuming there is a sleve and a bolt thru it. The typical way it all begins cut a piece of floor next thing you know you doing a compele stringer job new proper flooring and on and on. |

 Some cussing but done properly, last hack job decided to weld the swivel ball to the brackets since it was rusting away. Now if I could only find a 11a rudder and rebuild the rudder port I can sleep knowing my steering is in top shape. |
