Duane,
Mishicot is just north of Manitowoc Wi. on Lake Michigan. Considering this Velvet has the 1.52 box on the tail end coupled to a 4 cylinder, I'd say it came out of a work boat or small tug.

Per some of my B/W collection of info that transmission has a fwd ratio of 1.58 to 1 and a reverse ratio of 1.58 to 1 and the engine has to be a LH normal rotation engine turning a LH prop.

Can't index the pump on it.

Ken,
You've got me curious about the pump indexing! Isn't this Velvet just a 71C with the reduction box bolted to the tail end?

Pete

As far as why it can't be indexed

Short answer......I'm not sure

Long answer......I'm not sure, I've never been into one of these

Like you said Pete, it's a workboat transmission built for diesel power.

The answer is on page 3 of the Installation Manual There's a CAUTION that talks about special planetary gear mountings for each rotation

It's 5 pages in, but it's what Borg Warner has labeled as page 3

Thanks Ken. I see it's the 2,1's that have the specific rotation. It's not the trans itself but the reduction box. It sounds like they have special planetary gear mountings for the specific rotation. Probably a torque related issue?

Same manual page 10 lists all the CR2 transmissions that can only be indexed one way.

The 10-13-000-01 is the first one on the list.

There are a whole bunch of ratios that can only go one way.

For example the 10-13-000-02 can reverse the engines rotation with a different planetary set and mounting

They list 12 different versions of the 10-13 in the table with ratios of 1.58, 2.03, 2.47, 2.93

Thanks Ken for the info. Makes it worthless to me but gold for the guy that needs that application
