I noticed some damage around the rudder port of my 1996 Super Sport.

I was wondering if this is normal wear, if it warrants further investigation and what I should do about.

There are two issues (See the attached pic).

1. (Black Square) There appears to be some wear of the gel coat at this part of the boat, I am not too concerned about this by itself but it does seem a little odd to have this typm of damage. the gel is worn through to glass and quite rough in this area.

2. (Red Square) this piece I am a little more concerned with. In the pic it looks like a gel coat chip but this appear to be a small hole in this area. My thinking is that maybe a chip has created a void that has since worn into a bigger hole over time but I am not sure. Anybody seen something like this. Is this something that I should check and repair sooner rather than later, or probably something that can just be filled in.

Thoughts? Advice?

Could be erosion from the prop.

I would coat them with epoxy.

Just get one of http://2fwww.spectrumcolor.com/ProductDesc.aspx?code=F552321K&type=4&eq=&desc=CORRECT-CRAFT-SILVER-CLOUD-93-02&key=it" rel="nofollow - these kits it will match close enough for where it's going to be.

Yeah, I think that's it. I thought prop burn was near the prop but it looks like it does extend back to the rudder.

Later models added a stainless steel plate around the rudder so I guess this was a populated problem.
