Been lurking for a couple weeks but first post. I have a 86 martinique with a 351. Everything seems to run great when cruising and even when idleing but after about a hour or so it wont start without giving it gas and starts to stall alot. If you let it sit for about 5 minutes it will start right up and idle normal but if you start going again and then return to idle it will stall again ? Steps taken so far. New plugs, and new wires. old plugs did not look bad, a little carbon but not much. Also maybe a stupid question but people talk about adding weight to increase wake what is the best way to do this ?

sounds like the carb is a little rich try adjusting the idle mixture screws using a vaccum gauge to get max vaccum and lean out the choke stat a little and see if that helps. Double check the timing and makesure it's between 8-10 BTDC. I assuming it's not a point style dist and is electronic already, if not get a new dist or conversion kit to replace the points.

Thanks I will try adjusting the idle, but sadly it is a points style dist. Are the conversion kits worth it or should I just get a new dist ?
Thanks

stupid question but I understand about adjusting the idle but what do you mean by leaning out the choke stat ?
