Hey Ya'll!

I'm starting do do some homework on replacing the drive-line from the trans back on my 89 Ski Nautique. Short of the seats (currently being done) I have restored this boat to near pristine condition but haven't touched the cutlass bearing - which I'm certain is factory. I'm thinking ARE double taper setup, new cutlass, and shaft log & seal, on skidim I don't see a 1" shaft system for a reduction trans. I wouldn't think the shaft wouldn't be special for a reduction drive boat but I'm unsure which coupler I'm in need of.
First question is for anyone that has done an 89 I'll take any tips and pointers I can get as to which parts everyone prefers. Drip-less seals, 2 piece or one piece bearings, and potential tools needed.

Thanks in advance!!

The shaft is shorter for the gear reduction boats, I would have to check my notes but I am pretty sure it is the same as the 90-93 shaft maybe a 41” vs 44”. I would get the dual taper from general propeller if it were me as I prefer their design and I think it’s cheaper but both work so shop around. I continue to use the 2 piece vesconite bearings, and have had good luck with the oj dripless shaft seal but that stuff could also have changed over the 10 years it has been since I put one in.

Sam,
I've used the ARE but then Charlie (brady) got one from General. Just as Joe mentioned, I too like their design better. Give general Propeller a call and they will go over the needed specs with you.

Thanks a million fellas. I assumed shaft length would be the difference for the 1-1;23 trans, I will look at General propeller as it is the first I've heard of them.
Info is much appreciated !

GP is oem supplier for CC, if you call and discuss grades I’m sure they can tell you what is typical.

Add some original pinstripe and your exterior will be dialed right in!

I'm still on the fence about the pinstripe lol. I feel it looks "cleaner" without it but originality is high priority.
My father tells me I should put it back on as well!

Sam,
I'm sure liking the looks of your restoration project. A few more details and you'll have a like new boat. I too would go with putting the pinstripe back on. Dash decal?

Thank you Sir!
Yes, I'm in need of dash decals along with the warning/caution decals for the transom.
I understand someone here reproduces them but have yet to look into it.
