on my 66 mustang there is what appears to be
the red oxide paint you see on the hulls of
wooden boats. why would a fiberglass hull have
this type of coating? just curious.

#1 The bottom could be in bad shape. It's a good way to hide flaws
#2 If you plan to leave a boat in the water for longer periods of time you should use a bottom paint...Fiberglass is porous.

Hi Fredo
The red oxide is probably antifoul.
When boats are kept on a mooring the antifoul slows the growth of barnicals etc
and protects the fibreglass as Scott said.
You don't generally see it on fibreglass boats that are on a trailer.
