Getting ready to sell my 2001 Super Air. I guess a little hard to let go. It's been sitting in my driveway for 3 or 4 weeks waiting for me to wax, vacuum, and throw a for sale sign on it. Bought that boat new, the day after my divorce was finalized. First date with my current wife on that boat. Took our daughter on her first boat ride at 3 or 4 months old. Taught our daughter to ski, wakeboard and surf behind that boat. Dozens of dinner cruises, concerts on the bay, etc. Even towed it all the way from California to Wisconsin just to hang out with some of you yahoos. Just a boat. Not my first boat. Not the only boat I own. But gee, not entirely thrilled to let it go. BKH ------------- Livin' the Dream |

I (my wife even more) had similar emotional attachment to our SN we sold this summer. I know it is totally non-logical, but the nice family I sold it to (3 youngsters) made me feel better about the decision. ------------- “Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.” Ben Franklin |

I felt that way about my old Supra, for sure. I had just started dating my wife when I got it. I put a ton of my own blood, sweat, and tears into that boat, quite literally. Countless late nights out on the lake in it. For 10 years it was the "go-to" boat for all my friends, because it always worked perfectly. We drove it home the night of our wedding. Both my kids had their first boat rides in it. It only failed to get me home once, due to a broken damper plate. So many of my friends were sad to see it go when I finally sold it. That is, until they saw its replacement. |

She doesn't care that much. She has gotten into competitive Slalom skiing. Although she like taking friends out to knee board, and such, she will not ski behind the v-drive any longer. I bought a Ski Nautique, fairly inexpensively, and that is what we are using, quite a bit. Eventually, I'll buy a new, or newish ski boat, but for now a 98SN got us into a ski boat really quickly. I've still got an 82SN project sitting beside my house. Stringers have been in for years. No time to finish. So, I've got three boats, three trailers, 2 I'm insuring, blah blah blah. Need to simplify. Will plan to sell the 2001 super air (that money will go towards our cabin in the mountains). Seriously debating if I will part out the 82, or just give it time until I can reassemble. Once the Super Air is gone, I can just take my time till the right Ski Nautique comes along. BKH P.S. Brian, If I understand correctly you will be replacing the air with a direct drive ski boat for your daughters benefit so to me it's an easy decision. You don't forget the good memories you just make new ones. I understand the attachment but the boat has served it's purpose very well so go get that direct drive. Edit, I think you were posting as I was so I didn't see that you've a;ready bought a ski boat. Done deal move forward enjoy. Taking care of multiple boats is a lot of work and at least for me it's very hard to use them both. one of them will be priority and the other will just sit the majority of time. |

 We've both been boating for well over 40 years Bruce. We've spent a lot of time in direct drives. We both know there is no perfect boat. Fact is we'll use the direct drive more often. Wife has already skied more in last month than she did all summer. Wife and daughter are primarily skiers anyway. Will miss the room, social seating, lack of engine noise, etc. But, again, we ski a lot more often than we have guests out on the boat.But, don't think I haven't asked more than once "are you sure?" I went through a similar situation when I sold my 1980. For years my wife wanted a large boat, but I really loved that 1980. I boat on big water here in Lake Norman and the Sport Nautique was a great decision. My oldest daughter was basically out of the house when I did it and I now wished I pulled the trigger sooner for her sake. My youngest has seen her skiing improve with the larger more usable boat. I only miss the other one when I go to CCFAN events. Other days it was a great decision. Several on this site told me I needed to pull the trigger while my kids were young because one day they will both be gone. That day will be next August 2019 for me when Natalie goes to college. I do get to see the 1980 from time to time at the Cypress Gardens Museum and that helps to deal with the loss. Oh welcome to Team Red. Your only regret should be not diving right into an SN200! Seriously hot 98, though, my favorite colors for the TSC1. Agreed. I was looking at newish 200s. Missed on a couple of promos and some promo guys decided to keep them. Then needed a big chunk of dough for a cabin as she also competes in snow skiing and our previous cabin arrangements were not working out. As you know, 98s are great ski boats, and fine for her right now. She's still at 43 and 46 kph long line. Will see how long she sticks to it. Had a bunch of folks try to sell me MCs and Carbon Pro's at great prices, but I just couldn't do it. BKH ------------- Livin' the Dream |

Thanks Einstein!!! Was looking for something a little more specific ... East, West, North I used to work at a resort and skied up to 60 hrs a week most weeks but its getting harder with the bad winters we’ve been having. Hence my question... Where ? |

When I retire, I hope/expect to get 100+ days per year. For now, the job gets in the way. My daughter had about 60 days, and I was able to ski 42. Most days we ski Squaw Valley. Not bad. BKH ------------- Livin' the Dream |

I work winters at Sierra at Tahoe as a Patroller. I still don't get to ski nearly as much as I would like. 12-18 days per year normally. ------------- |

You mean non working days? I have few patroller friends. They don't ski a whole lot when not working. I always wonder if there is some aspect of turning what you love into a job. Pre professional job I skied about a 100 days a year. Now my house is about 15 minutes from the parking lot. and I "only" got 32 days last year. | I work at Keystone Resort in Colorado on weekends as a Mountain Safety Attendant. We educate guests on the safety code. It's a lot of fun but doesn't pay a lot, great benefits. I can't think of a better retirement gig. |
