Please be advised that this boat needs to be fully restored and is not lake ready!

Motor ran a few years ago after it was stored!

Please read the history on this boat below:

This hull is 1 of 5 ever made !

This was a Cypress Gardens tow boat that was in many movies, movie clips and skiing shows in Cypress Gardens..

Walt Mallon Sr. (founder of Correct Craft) custom made 5 boats like this one for Cypress Gardens Ski School in Florida in 1958. Cypress Gardens had a ski show that they would put on and these were the tow boats they used. Cypress Gardens is also where numerous movies and TV shows were filmed. Normally this boat would have been made all of one type of wood (typically Honduran Mahogany) and what makes this boat custom was that there was a lighter wood inlay, Brazilian Yellow Wood (Pau Amarello) on the deck.

According to numerous antique boat experts, the boat, not including the engine is worth an estimated $20,000 - $25,000.

THE ENGINE

In 1962 Andy Granatelli had 10 custom Packard 352 Cu. In. engines made for his race cars. They all had dual 4 barrel carburetors. He had the engines bored to 374 Cu. In. After this, he added McCulloch superchargers in order to put them in race cars to beat the land speed record on the Bonneville Salt Flats. This engine has been totally blue printed, sodium valves and a full bearing girdle to support the bottom end. The engine is emerald green with polished aluminum cover on the supercharger box and chrome valve covers and alternator. This engine put out approximately 400 HP

This boat is a real eye catcher and wait till you open the engine box. 374 cu. in. Packard V8 dual 4-barrel carburetors with a MCCulloch Super Charger. This engine has been totally blue printed with a hot cam, sodium valves and a full main bearing girdle to support the bottom end. The engine is emerald green with polished aluminum cover on the super charger box and chrome valve covers and alternator, when you open the box people stop in their tracks and when they hear the cam and the whine of the super charger they backup!!

Long history on the internet with that boat. It appears to have declined in condition. What is the asking price?

Yeah, that thing used to be cherry. That Paxton supercharger is so cool. Looks like they have had the cover off of the carb box messing with it.

Bill,
As Bruce mentioned, the history of that boat goes way back. http://correctcraftfan.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=21606&KW=MCCulloch&PID=271518&title=gardens-cc-woody-on-ebay#271518" rel="nofollow - Here's just one thread from over 7 years ago. Again, he's still searching for someone that's gullible enough to buy it. I doubt anyone with a wood boat background would touch it. I also believe it's another "Cypress Gardens" story!!

Really - I don't think it would need someone gullible at the current listing price of 5K

Assuming this is a genuine add and not a scam..

Story or no story it represents as a restorable planked correctcraft with an engine that at least has cool parts on it, we have seen it for crazy money in the past that would have required the boat to be right and tight but at 5K its starting to look good even as a pile of parts to me? Am I missing something, other than the 5k and time to go and get it that is?

yep, good thing it's too far away because for that money I would certainly take a ride over with an empty trailer hitch and see if it could follow me home. Who know's whether the story is legit but it has potential to be a really cool boat.

Bruce,
I remember when it was first listed at $40,000 https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/249165079090675/" rel="nofollow - now it's down to $5,500

Great project at that price. Whether the stories are true or not doesn't matter.

Good to see they upped their marketing game by adding the leafs. Might be worth someone’s time to have Cousin Donald authenticate the ‘gardens story too. 😉

A lot of hate in this thread! Surely the boat has value to someone?

If it was stated on the internet, it must be true. It was not in the museum with my 1980 under the protective bubble.
