As many of you have, or have started putting our boats away for the Winter it's time to start thinking about the 10th Anniversary of The SJRR. I've had several CCFans ask if we were gonna do it again for 2019 and the answer was simply....I don't know. So I'm throwing this up to ask YOU! Is there enough interest in doing this gathering again next year?

What Say You?

So the Sunnyland Boat Festival is set for March 22-24th. In a discussion with Alan I had on the tele he said that he was going down to see his folks and he was taking "Soul Mate" with him and probably head down for this weekend. So in keeping with tradition and since there is interest in doing it again I say we set the date for March 22-24th.
Parramores will again be HQ and at the time of this post there are 15 cabins available for this weekend alone. RV slips and tent sites are available too if you're gonna go that route. I'll reach out to them and see if they will once again give CCFans a discount on rentals.
Is this weekend okay with everyone?

I'm planning a visit with my folks that weekend. They live on Lake Dora so I'll be able to hook up with the group if the usual run to the boat show happens on Friday afternoon. I would probably meet the convoy at the locks and make the run back to the boat show with the group.    I would trailer over to Paramores for Saturday run to the springs.

Okay y'all I, I talked to Parramores yesterday and told them that we we're coming down to see them for the 10th Annual SJRR and asked if they would give us a discount on Cabin Rentals as they've done in years past. Once again they were glad to hear that we're coming back and that they will knock 10% off the bill but you have CALL them and identify yourself as a Correct Craft Fan and you're part of the ski boat group that takes over the campground for a few days. They are still in the process of renovating cabins so a couple may not be ready for The Ruckus.
In keeping with SJRR tradition We'll keep the format the same as a few folks have called me wondering if we're gonna do the river Cruise to the boat show so we'll be doing that again on Fri morning. It's an all day trip and even longer if we don't get to the lock before the lock master goes to lunch. Don't have to do the show but several places in town to eat lunch (or a couple of marinas along the way if we wanna be brave) before we head back to where we launched. Ski Saturday morning on the river then head out to the Glenn Saturday afternoon. Back to Parramores to cookout at the Rec Hall and just hang out for the evening.
Heather and I are both in along with my daughter Tamara who'll be out for Spring break that week and maybe daughter Sydney and hubby Jarrett as they want to be a part of the SJRR. Yeah it's waaaay to early to be thinking bout this event but folks are asking and even regular CCFans who post but have never been to The Ruckus.

Chris J. good to hear that you're planning on it as we've not seen you in a while my friend. Make it Happen.

Sounds like a "Plan"!
I think we have been to 8 of 9, and always have a great time. Last year was the first time we joined the group Friday morning trip through the lock and into show. (I live near the show so it always made more sense to go strait there) Even living here, I never went through that route. It was AWESOME!! Fun, beautiful and an adventure! If you can make it, do so. No boat? No problem, as there were plenty of empty seats available.

So I got my waterfront cabin booked already for March 21-24th. Kinsey is probably who you'll talk to once you get ahold of them. She said that since the post a couple days ago she has had a few calls regarding our Ruckus. She needed to return a few calls from a couple of you wanting to book so it seems that we'll have a good turnout this year. The Rec Hall is reserved so we're good to go. Also they are in the process of expanding their dock slips and are replacing those rickity slips down by the ramp. Hope they'll fix the ramp too so it sounds like the new management is trying to really improve the place. You can reserve a slip at the time of booking but if you're gonna do the Ocklawaha run with us on Fri morning then you may not need a slip. keep the bookings coming y'all. We'll have a grand ole' time again.

I have reserved Otter Cabin for Phyllis and myself. It sleeps four, so would be OK with having two to share with as long as they are OK with bunk beds. It has a loft which we plan to occupy, and the bunks are downstairs.

I guess I better find a spot or I'll be in my tent again next to the bathroom...wait just remembered I had to throw it away after last ginnie springs attack of varmints. Looks like I better find a way to tether an air mattress in a boat slip...I know how they like to answer the phone there at parramores when its a full moon only. Maybe this time I'll get hot water or not...just wear my new full wetsuit all weekend.

Florida was on my short list way back when (Florida, Georgia & Ole Miss).

Florida has been on a tear in terms of academic quality and prestige as of late -- currently the 8th best public university (US News). My daughter just associates greater FL with what she sees in the panhandle when we vacation there.

Rollins is where I need to get my next job after I get my kids out of college. I could see going to work there.

Okay Gang...It seems that Paramores is filling up for the event which is awesome to see. At the time of this posting there are only 6 cabins left, two Tent spaces and quite a few RV spots left for SJRR 2019. Looks like another grand River Ruckus is on Tap so tell Santa to reserve you a spot on HQ as Spring will be here before you know it. Start off the boating season with your fellow CCFans and we'll see you on the River!

Happy New Year CCFans! I just wanted to let everyone know that as of this posting 6 cabins, 2 tent sites and 13 RV slips are left for the event. Parramores is filling up with CCFans I hope so if you're coming then ya better get moving.

I'll send out another reminder to the Classic Correct Craft Group on FB this Sunday but giving CCFans Dibs on what spots are left. Get it in gear fellas!

I was asked my Scott Z if I was gonna do shirts this year and I said probably not as I still have Ruckus Coozies left over but it is the "10th Annual River CCFan River Ruckus" so I need some feedback from y'all. Dana at Action Screen printing needs minimum 3 weeks notice if we're gonna do shirts so do you folks heading down for this want to do T-Shirts?
If so I will tell Action Screen to go ahead and will ONLY order what is needed. I'm not carrying around extra shirts for 3+ years as TimBob is trying to downsize his residence.. If there's interest then we'll do them and IF I can get sponsors involved there will be little or no cost to y'all. If you have a business and wanna be a sponsor for the Ruckus then send a message. Business logo on the back of the shirt if we do them so thanks in advance guys and gals.

What Ya Think?

Good to see that you and Gail are onboard for your first River Ruckus experience you won't be disappointed I can promise you. So I went ahead and got with Alan and told him to go ahead and design a 10th Annual River Ruckus T-shirt and that I WILL NOT order a boat load as I'm not storing them for years to come. If you want one then you need to let me know what sizes you need and how many of each. Not gonna bother with sponsors so if you want one you'll have to pay for it. You'll know the cost after I get the bill from Action Screen. Need to start thinking about what you wanna contribute to the traditional Sat night cookout at the rec Hall. Make it as simple as you want as more than likely we'll be on the water all day Sat and maximizing the use of Day Light Savings. Good to see a nice crowd planning on attending.

Here's who we got:

TimBob ,Heather & Tamara     Manatee    Thurs-Sun
Scott & Jana           Bream Beds            Thurs - Sun
Jerry & Debb (Kids)     Squirrels Nest      Thurs - Sun
Greg and Sue    Bluegill. Thurs- Sun. 2005 SN 206

I would like 3: 1 XXL, 1 XL, & 1 L

Are there several gas grills, or charcoal grills? I assume ovens in the cabins. Thinking about what to contribute food wise.

There are ovens in the cabins and 1 giant charcoal grill that we use for Saturday nights cookout.

Happy Ground Hog Day everybody and here we are....less than 2 months away from the River Ruckus. Since the Atlanta Snowmageddon 2019 never showed up I was able to pull out the boat and get her all waxed up and the oil changed. I always seem to get whistlebit at the the last minute trying to get it all down so I'm getting an early start on it this year and I highly recommend that you at least get yours waxed before you go. The St. Johns can really leave it's mark on your boat and it comes off so much easier if she's waxed up.
At the time of this post there is only 1 cabin left for the weekend so you better snag it before it goes. If not then there is the South Moon River Camp up the river/street for other accommodations and it is on the river. Thrilled to see the cabins fill up with CCFans so a great time is expected as always. Got off the phone with Les Todd this morning so he'll be joining us throughout the weekend.
As mentioned above the campground has a huge pull around grill that we'll us for grilling out whatever you bring if needed nd most of the cabins have ovens and stoves to make whatever you need. I'll provide the charcoal for the grill so just bring it.

A few things I wanna mention and yes I know it's early but gives you time to prepare for the new SJRR attendees:

Barney is present on the water usually spotted a couple times during the weekend so be sure you have all safety gear and proper amount of life jackets.

Anchor(s)- We will be boating on the river and rafting up on it and definitely in the Silver Glen Springs so you'll need one.

Boat Bumpers- Please bring at least two if you have them, if you don't own any then buy 4. I prefer the L shaped fenders as they protect the top as well as the sides especially since our boats are different shapes and sizes.

Red Solo Cups - Adult beverages are NOT permitted in the springs but most everyone does not follow that law. Don't make yourself an easy target for Barney to throw the cuffs on you.

Lunch on the river...NOT available well for the most part. Chances are pretty good that we'll be in The Glen on Saturday so be prepared to bring something for lunch cause their ain't nothing around for miles.

Breakfast- Not readily available so be prepared to just do your own thing in the cabin. This is especially important for those of us going out on Friday Morning.

Gas- It is available on the River but I'd Suggest you fill up before you get there. Several gas stations are in Astor but are not exactly boat trailer friendly. If you plan to do the Ocklawaha Run on Friday then make sure the boat is topped off before we trailer. There are stations along the way but we will need to get launched ASAP to beat the Lock Masters lunch hour. One Marina on the 25 mile journey has fuel so if you need it on the return trip back w can make a stop.

I still have Ruckus Coozies so if you need some more or want some then they'll be available to purchase.

Items needed for the Sat Night Cookout:

Plates, Napkins and silverware for the most part.

Bring a dish, then bring a serving utensil …...Please!

I'll get in touch with Terry Fiest at the boat show to let him know we're coming and to see if they'll give us the same deal on attending the Dora Show but I'm gonna need to know who's going so I can give him a # of attendees. More updates to come. Still a ways out but it'll be here before you know it.

I would have to reiterate 2 good anchors, 20'-50' on one 25' another should cover any spot in river. Should be decent north current with high water. Beware of ramp drop offs and ramps do change sometimes year to year.   Tarpon & 400+ manatees were in Blue Springs last week!

Fridays trip to Mt Dora (Actually Tavares) is a great one, and not to be missed if at all possible. Since it is a long haul, I was getting low on fuel on the return, turned out fine, but it was worrying me. Rosconole had the smarts to bring a 5 gallon Gas jug along that he added to his tank at the show, However he was running a Big Block that day too.

My fuel burn was about 25 gallons up and back if I recall correctly on the 454 BBC on the run its 25 miles by PrecisionStar GPS each way. No gas stations close by on that run and no telling if fuel dock person would be around if their was one that time of year. I never like buying gas on water anyway, to0 much chance of water in fuel.

Nothing interesting Petey, they’re just rebuilding it one side at a time and it is a high traffic ramp. Water should be at normal height. I was on the upper river (South) yesterday and height was perfect. Little bit of current but we had a fair amount of rain this week.

Gary, he won’t make it in time. If he were to start shoveling snow tonight he wouldn’t be able to dig himself out by mid March. Then he’d have to figure out how to load his boat in the ice, change impeller, replace battery in lesbomobile, etc.....

Was on the river yesterday,   water is down about 4 feet from the extreme high water marks.   It is about right now. I didnt go to the astor bridge so cant comment on the ramp there.

Did get yelled at by the greenies in kayaks.   Said i was going too fast in now wake idle zone. Well 600 rpms is as low as it goes and it makes a wake and not granny gearing it.

I bet if we get one of those DNA checks on Gary it will show he comes from a long line of White Folk. Possibly Nordic Viking people with Blonde hair Blue eyes. No tint in the skin at all. The coast guard saw the sun flashing off of those white legs and thought a boater was in distress.

Okay River Ruckusers here's the latest and greatest info. I talked to Terry Fiest today and told him we were coming down "By Sea" and we had a rather big group of CC's and asked if they'd be able to accomodate us. Yep, we sure do so you guys come on down and we'll give you the same deal as years past. $5 a person to get in instead of $10. Just let me know how many are coming ahead of time and we'll get wristbands for you. They'll have 70 boats in the water this year as some of the docks have been replaced but not all. They're glad we're coming.

So here's the Cabin and shirt size list that I HAVE SO FAR.... shirt design is still being worked on so it may be a surprise to all of us. If you wanna shirt then you'd better speak up. Action Screen needs #'s the first week of March to run them so get moving.

I have a special request for those of you attending this years River Ruckus. Most of you who are my FB friends know that I'm involved with Operation Care Package that the Mechanics here at Delta send every week. The items in the boxes are provided by donations of those who work here OR through money given to the project or by Grits fundraisers. The need for money that other charitable organizations that the TOC is involved with has closed the funds for Operation Care Package for now. The money raised was spent on groceries for the troops.

I'd like to ask all of you to help me send stuff to our troops in Iraq, Afghanistan and even on a boat somewhere by bringing something that we can pack in a care package. Candy, nuts, hot sauce, crackers, jerky, anything from home that the service won't/can't provide pretty much anything that isn't perishable or chocolate.. I know that the troops would appreciate it so very much and you won't have to foot the bill for sending a care package abroad. The VP of Technical Operations has been paying the Postage Bill for it. Last I heard, it was around $15k for 2018. If you can that would awesome and I know the Coordinator of this weekly operation would be appreciative. I'll even be sure that River Ruckus Coozies go with the packages from the stuff y'all donate. Thanks in advance for your help in this effort for them....... See ya on the River!
