I have searched for a metal engine alignment wedge to replace the wood wedges that were in my Mustang originally. Are these a thing or will I need to have the fabricaator I use make them? ------------- 1970 Mustang "Theseus' paradox" If everyone else is doing it, you're too late! |

John, The cast iron wedges are hard to find. You can have some new ones made or go back to wood. Nothing wrong with the wood wedges, I thought it may be easier to get the thing aligned with metal ones since the engine mounting bracket will be aluminum now. I am going to have my fabricator make an aluminum engine mounting bracket since I can't just lag bolt to Coosa like it was originally. I have had time to work on the boat recently and I'm almost done grinding. One more day should do it. John, when I build my Coosa stringers I laminate in 3" thick sections of glued up white oak to accept the lags instead of building a cradle. Just an option. ------------- Jesus was a bare-footer............. |

Good idea on laminating the wood. I am planning to use 2X3- 3/8 aluminum angle stock cross bolted to the stringers and drilling and tapping the mounting holes. Seems easy and not too expensive to me. I am also planning on reducing the height of the stringers by 1/2" to maintain the original floor height while using Cooosa for the floor. Your engine cradel is really nice Duane, but I think I just need some simple aluminum angle cross bolted to the stringers.. The mounts originally sat flat on top of the stringer and they should sit on the angle nicely. Here is a piece of 1-1/4 aluminum angle layed on the original stringer as I plan, but I intend to use 3"X2"X 3/8".
