Getting everything ready for our first spring run in a couple of weeks after I reinstall my windshield and replace the rub rail. All is proceeding according to plan and then this:

Luckily, the doc said it wasn't broken ... exactly. "BUT" he continued " there is a slight hairline fracture in your fibula that could get worse if you put it under any undue stress ... so no skiing for at least a month" Great.... Well I suppose it could be worse.

Yeah you could be me. Destroyed mine in Oct’18 and won’t be able to try to ski again until beginning of 2020. Then I was attacked by an armadillo and broke more hardware in the leg last week. I hope doc has you in a boot. I can highly recommend the $32 Futuro leg and ankle brace if/when you are weight bearing. I’m not supposed to be in the brace yet but it’s made miles of a difference. Do what you can not to get down in the dumps being a gimp because that sh1t sneaks up on you.

Living in Florida I don’t think I’d admit to being attacked by an armadillo - you should say gator or bear

That sucks. But you are right it could be worse. And we don't heal like we did when we were 20 +2 to the brace and follow the docs orders. It will mean faster recovery in the end.

Its all in the timing. I got mine out of the way in february and just got clearance last week to get back in the water. You said the upcoming planned outing was to be your first, so I assume this wasnt a skiing accident. What happened? Hopefully not something stupid like mine like running into the trailer hitch with your shin.

Ha ha .... Yeah, well I'd like to embellish somewhat or even come up with a best seller of a story. But the truth of the matter is that it was, in fact, a stupid scenario. On a job in Kansas City and went out to the truck to retrieve something out of the console. While leaning in with the door open a huge gust of wind - no joke, probably 50mph - slammed the door on my leg! I honestly thought someone had swerved into the space next to me and hit the door. That's the story I'd like to tell, but yes it was just this blasted Kansas wind!

I would’ve told a better story than that otherwise an old guy with stark white chicken legs might laugh at you. I had a wind gust blow the door shut on my ‘67 Bronco when I was 18 and broke a few bones in my hand.

Sorry to hear the news Joe but it could be much worse. I hope it heals well and fast.
The good thing about boats is you are still able to put your boat in the water and run it. Check out the great scenery and enjoy a day on the water. If you get deperate for excitement you can always Air Chair or Tube!!!!!
It will give you time to de bug the boat before you start skiing.

Another injury after just recovering from your bout with the pulley?

No John, I've managed to make it through the past couple months without wrecking myself. I was just throwing out a hypothetical example of a dumb accident that could result in a bandaged up shin.
