I am a long time member who has posted very little. However, I have owned a 1994 with with much maligned ProTec engine and then 1997 Masters Edition Green SNOB, should have never sold that boat! I have also owned a few Mcrafts as well, so I have been around inboards.
Nevertheless, with two teens wanting toy, getting an expensive inboard is not a priority. Therefore, I have decided to look for the nicest 2001 SN hull I can find, so they can use it as teens will.
I am comfortable with most all "Checklist" buyers items when buying a SN, except the stringers. I have watched this video by our own Themofoot a few times. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r89aVI_LVBg.
He does a great job explaining how to check, but his boat is unusually clean with rockhard stringers. However, I am trying to gain "perspective" for what bad strings actually look like and what to look from 1982-89. Does anyone have pictures, video or additional first hand experience of bad stringers? I have also read about the spider cracks around the hull ribs from flexing, but again have not seen any examples.
Any help for making sure I don't purchase a boat which will need 2X my purchase price would be greatly appreciated.
