My Thunderbolt IV is probably ~30 years old and has thousands of hours on it. I was poking around the web and found this: Is this a Petronix? Any ideas or experience? Thoughts?

It looks to me like it's their version of a GM HEI distributor, just like the DUI HEI setup basically.

Just cheaper than the DUI for whatever reason, (maybe the country that it was made in?)

Coil in cap, 1 wire hookup, 5 inch diameter says HEI all the way

Vacuum advance locked internally and canister removed just like a DUI marine distributor.

If any of the internals crap out, regular GM parts from most any auto supply outfit will fit as is the case with the DUI also.

The ad says they're running out of parts to assemble them, but as long as China is around I'm reasonably sure that won't happen

Thank you very much. I understand the HEI stuff to be very reliable.

I emailed the guy to ask whats the diff between this and the DUI from Summit besides $40 and no wires. Ill admit to being a dummy on anything not Mercruiser or Volvo.
