96 Sport EFI

Turned keyed nothing happened. Third time it started. This has been happening for a couple of weeks. Now nothing. I Crossed the posts on the back of the starter with a screw driver and it spins. Friend said the neutral safety switch may be bad. I don’t know where that is. Thanks for the help

Jason

Being a PCM transmission it's top center in the picture below between the shift lever and the hydraulic hose with 2 screws for attaching the wires

Jason,
Before you order a new NSS, ether get the VOM out and check the continuity or the simple way is to just jump it but don't leave it jumped!. It may not be the NSS and you'd just be throwing an unknown fix at it .

BTW, to avoid future confusion, many do mix up "cranking" the engine with it actually running (starting). Cranking goes back a few years!

I don't remember him saying anything about ordering a new switch Pete, just trying to find the one that's there.

Then he can vomit or whatever he wants to do

Tow it behind another boat and get it going fast enough to spin the prop then turn on the key and throw it in gear.. should start right up!
